It’s not a localized problem, anymore. many are reporting that their sort new phones are cracked or have little fissures on first sight. It looks like there is a serious manufacturing fault in the new 3G, specifically, the cases are cracking.

It appears that the metal frame on which the plastic case attaches is too little. The cracks are appearing chiefly around

the headphone jack and buttons.

All phones, with daily use, get scuffed or produce cracks to a little degree. But a grade new phone sporting flaws is a problem, for certain. that stresses the plastic to the point of cracking. You may want to take your phone back to the vendor where you purchased it. The problem appears to be happening primarily in the white phones, but it may outcome all of the new 3Gs.
